PART-TIME ASSOCIATE WANTED
Welden Hardware is a hometown hardware store focusing on strong customer relations. It is a family-run store, where each staff member is a crucial link to the business’s success. The history of Welden Hardware goes back over 130 years, first as a general store, then focusing on hardware and home goods. For over 20 years, Welden Hardware was associated with Ace Hardware. John & Melissa Brett purchased the business in May 2004, at that point the store dropped its Ace affiliation and became completely independent, buying primarily from Orgill, along with power equipment from Toro, Husqvarna, grills from Weber and other suppliers.
Our customers are diverse: from contractors & professionals, experienced homeowners to the complete “newbie” with any project. We strongly believe in greeting customers the minute they walk through the door, giving them attention, advice, guidance and following through with ringing them out. As with any small business, Welden Hardware is all about service, getting to know our customers, having a close-knit team, helping each other out where needed and enjoying the many facets of this business. No two days are alike. Going above and beyond is the standard, not the exception. If customers are still in the store at closing, when possible, we stay late to help out. If a customer needs help carrying merchandise out to their car, we help out. “At Your Service” is not just our motto, it’s how we run our business.
Applicant Requirements
• You must be capable of regularly lifting 60+ pounds while navigating stairs.
• You need to exude a positive and friendly attitude, while also being attentive and possessing an aptitude for quick learning.
• You must be available to work all day on Saturdays and 2-4 weekdays part-time.
• Experience with PC/Windows is a must.
• Familiarity with basic hand and power tools is required.
• The ability to work with minimal direction and regular correction is essential.
• You must be self-sufficient and able to thoroughly read assembly instructions without assistance.
• You should be able to learn about inventory, product knowledge, etc. on the job without any formal training.
• Multi-tasking is crucial.
Job Responsibilities
• Check in and stock items from weekly order.
• Neaten and clean inventory as needed.
• Assemble items for display & sale such as wheelbarrows, grills, power equipment, etc.
• Become very familiar with existing and new stock.
• Keep interior and exterior of business neat, cleaned and inviting.
• Dispose of all trash, carboard and other materials on a consistent basis.
• Willing to perform other tasks as assigned.
• Adhere to the policies written in the employee handbook.
Hours
The position is part-time. Saturdays are mandatory. There is flexibility and variability on weekday scheduling, depending on what tasks are needed for that week. Store hours consist of the following:
• Monday through Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
• Saturday: 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Sunday: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Probationary Period
This position has a probationary period of 90 days. If, for any reason (learning the products on the sales floor, team dynamics, etc.) either the employee or management does not deem the position a right fit, the relationship can be terminated. If employment continues after the probationary period, additional responsibilities may be given as seen fit by management.
